Windows and Doors Birmingham wants this website to work for everyone, including people who use a keyboard instead of a mouse, rely on a screen reader, zoom in on text or set their own colours.
What We Aim For
We aim to meet level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2. So far that has meant:
- checking text, link and button colours against the AA contrast ratios
- making every link, menu and form field reachable and usable with a keyboard alone
- writing alt text for images that carry meaning, and leaving decorative images silent
- using one main heading per page and a logical heading order beneath it
- giving every form field a visible label
- building plain HTML pages that stay readable on a small phone and with text enlarged to 200%
Known Limitations
No independent audit has been carried out yet, so some problems may have slipped past us. The ones we're aware of:
- Price tables in the cost guides can be wider than a phone screen and may need scrolling sideways.
- The call-tracking script can change the phone number after the page loads, which some screen readers announce twice.
- A few photo descriptions are brief and could be more helpful.
Reporting a Problem
If something on the site doesn't work for you, email info@windowsanddoorsbirmingham.co.uk or call 0121 368 1894. Tell us the page and what went wrong, and we'll try to fix it. If the quote form gives you trouble, you can send the details of your windows or doors by email or phone instead.
